Busan Yua Nori Kkumteo Expands Early Childhood Environment and Ecology Programs

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education's Early Childhood Education Promotion Institute will expand and operate environment and ecology programs linked to the curriculum from March at the Gijang-gun Early Childhood Play Dream Center to foster proper character and ecological sensitivity in young children.


The program consists of "Wednesday Nature Playground" and "Saturday Family Experience Environmental Ecology Play."


The "Nature Playground" is a program where every Wednesday, 1,680 children aged 3 to 5 from 60 kindergartens and daycare centers in Busan enjoy nature play such as gardening, forest play, and resource recycling in the natural environment around the Early Childhood Play Dream Center with a professional ecology instructor.


The "Family Experience Environmental Ecology Play" is a program held every Saturday for 900 families with children aged 3 to 5 in Busan, offering various nature play activities such as natural material frame play and milk carton tag play.

Starting this year, the program will expand from once a day to twice a day and will be held at various educational locations for diverse ecological education: Sodubang Park in Gijang-gun from March to April, Hwamyung Arboretum in Buk-gu from May to June, Nopsan Forest in Gijang-gun from September to October, and Geumgang Park in Dongnae-gu from November to December.


Families wishing to participate can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the Busan Office of Education's integrated reservation system starting every Tuesday.


Lee Hyun-sook, Director of the Early Childhood Education Promotion Institute, said, "This program is child-led environmental and ecological education that will awaken children to the importance of nature and provide a time for both body and mind to become healthy."
