Random Grouping of 10 Employees
Communication with CEO Im Jae-taek through the 'Healing Process' Program
'Masil' Program Including Foodie Tours... A Strategy to Strengthen Internal Cohesion
Since CEO Lim Jae-taek took office, there has been an evaluation that the organizational culture at Hanyang Securities has changed significantly. Following the planning of a city tour program for employees, Lim has also strengthened internal cohesion by grouping 10 employees into one group to have meals with the CEO.
Hanyang Securities recently conducted an organizational experiment by forming 10 employees into one 'Cell (group)'. Accordingly, a total of 500 employees were assigned to 50 Cells. The groups were formed randomly without artificial adjustments such as department or rank. Employees belonging to the same Cell engage in various activities as one 'organizational community.'
This idea came from CEO Lim. Inspired by McKinsey's saying, "Don't try to boil the whole ocean," he initiated the organizational experiment. The goal is to increase cohesion and a sense of belonging through informal groups of 10 people.
The first program for the 10-person 'Social Cell' is a meal with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is not an ordinary dinner. Each Cell decides the format and location and invites CEO Lim accordingly.

This is called the 'Healing Process' program. It adds the meaning of healing (mental recovery) to the phrase Chiyugongjeong (炊猶共鼎), which means "lighting a fire in the stove and eating from one pot." The first Healing Process took place on the 8th of last month at a jazz bar located in Banpo. A jazz performance and a special lecture were prepared. The performer and speaker was Executive Director Yoo Choong-sik of Hanyang Securities’ Songpa RM Center, who is famous as a jazz pianist.
Hanyang Securities plans to actively utilize Social Cells in organizational management as well. CEO Lim’s plan is that organizational members who feel limitations in vertical communication with their department supervisors can broaden their communication and gain various inspirations through Social Cells. Participation in various corporate culture activities currently being planned, such as bowling tournaments and idea challenges, is also being considered on a Social Cell basis instead of by headquarters or departments.
CEO Lim Jae-taek said, "Through the Healing Process, we want to plant the heart of love in the hearts of about 500 employees and have a time of healing and blessing for each other." Since Lim took office, Hanyang Securities has been conducting various activities such as management meetings in the form of town hall meetings hosted by rotating executives, Winners Day events, and team unit morning meetings (Dolce) with the CEO.
