No Seung-yeol Ties for 19th... Echavarria Leads by 2 Strokes

'B-Grade Tournament' Puerto Rico Open Round 3

No Seung-yeol's determined effort.

No Seung-yeol Ties for 19th... Echavarria Leads by 2 Strokes No Seung-yeol shot 3 under par in the third round of the Puerto Rico Open, closing in on the group tied for 10th place by one stroke.

On the 5th (Korean time), No Seung-yeol shot a 3-under-par 69 in the third round of the Puerto Rico Open (total prize money $3.8 million) held at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Puerto Rico (par 72, 7,506 yards) on the PGA Tour. He rose to a tie for 19th place (8-under-par 208). This is a 'B-level tournament' where lower-ranked players who did not qualify for the 'premium match' Arnold Palmer Invitational (total prize money $20 million) participated. Although the prize money is small, the winner receives a two-year tour card.

No Seung-yeol started tied for 25th, 9 shots behind the leader, and recorded one eagle, four birdies, one bogey, and one double bogey. His focus was evident in the first five holes, where he reduced his score by 4 strokes with an eagle on the 2nd hole (par 5), birdies on the 3rd hole (par 4) and 5th hole (par 5). After a bogey on the 6th hole (par 3), he gained momentum with birdies on the 12th and 15th holes, but a double bogey on the 17th hole (par 4) was disappointing. He relied on his long drives averaging 330 yards. He is only one stroke behind the group tied for 10th, giving him a chance to break into the top 10.

Nico Echavarria (Colombia) surged with a 7-under-par round to take a two-stroke lead (17-under-par 199) at the top. He is ranked 406th in the world and has yet to win a tournament. Carson Young (USA), who had held the top of the leaderboard for two consecutive days, shot 1-under-par and dropped to second place (15-under-par 201). Kang Sung-hoon lost 2 strokes with three birdies, three bogeys, and one double bogey, placing him tied for 66th (1-over-par 217).
