Gangbuk-gu Achieves 150% of Warm Winter Fundraising Goal

From November last year to February this year, a total of 1.505 billion KRW was raised in donations and goods

Goods were prioritized for vulnerable households, and donations will be used to identify and support welfare blind spots

Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced that through the '2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign,' it raised a total of 1.505 billion KRW, exceeding the initial target by 150%.

The 'Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' is a fundraising project conducted over three months from November last year, in cooperation between Gangbuk-gu and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, aimed at spreading a culture of sharing and helping neighbors in need.

Various local companies, organizations, and individual donors participated, contributing a total of 1,162 cases, including approximately 714 million KRW in cash donations and about 791 million KRW worth of goods, raising over 1.505 billion KRW?about 500 million KRW more than the original goal.

Contrary to concerns that fundraising would significantly decrease this year due to COVID-19 and the economic downturn, this was made possible by the warm hearts of people willing to support neighbors in need despite difficult times for everyone.

The donated goods such as rice and kimchi were immediately delivered to vulnerable groups facing hardships during the cold winter, and the donations will be used to support households in welfare blind spots within the community.

Gangbuk-gu plans to send letters of gratitude to those who shared their warm hearts for their neighbors, along with awarding certificates of commendation and plaques of appreciation to outstanding donors.

Mayor Lee Soon-hee of Gangbuk-gu said, “I am grateful for the warm love shown by everyone thinking of their neighbors even during this cold and difficult winter. We will strive to use the precious support meaningfully and continue to foster warm love so that together we can build a Gangbuk where neighbors and everyone’s lives are strengthened.”
