Enhanced 'Gumi Citizen Safety Insurance' with Compensation up to 20 Million Won

Anyone in Gumi City Can Enjoy Benefits Without Insurance Premium Burden

Expansion from 9 to 13 Types Including Burn Surgery Costs and Social Disaster Deaths

Gumi City has renewed and expanded the coverage items of the citizen safety insurance, which provides agreed insurance benefits without any additional premium burden through insurance companies contracted with the city when Gumi citizens suffer damage to life or body due to unexpected various disasters and accidents.

Enhanced 'Gumi Citizen Safety Insurance' with Compensation up to 20 Million Won Newly Expanded and Updated Gumi City Citizen Safety Insurance.

Any citizen registered in Gumi City (including foreigners) is automatically enrolled or unenrolled upon moving in or out during the insurance period without any separate subscription procedure, and can receive coverage overlapping with personal insurance regardless of where the accident occurs nationwide.


The coverage items include a total of 13 categories: ▲death from natural disasters ▲death or permanent disability from explosion, fire, or collapse ▲death or permanent disability from injury while using public transportation ▲death from drowning accidents ▲death or permanent disability from agricultural machinery injuries ▲school zone traffic accident injury treatment costs, and newly added this year ▲death or permanent disability from injury while using chartered buses ▲burn surgery costs ▲death from social disasters.


Depending on the coverage item, benefits of up to 20 million KRW can be received, and furthermore, this year, the school zone traffic accident injury treatment costs for children under 12 years old have been increased by 10 million KRW from the previous amount to 20 million KRW.


The subscription period is one year from March 1 to February 29 of the following year. Insurance claims can be made within three years from the date of the accident. In case of a claim, applicants should submit the insurance claim form and required documents to the insurance company (Korea Local Finance Association). Detailed consultation and inquiries are available through the Korea Local Finance Association call center, and insurance details and claim documents can be checked on the Association’s website or Gumi City’s website.


Kim Jang-ho, Mayor of Gumi City, said, "As we have strengthened the coverage so that more citizens can receive practical benefits, I hope it can be of some help to citizens who suffer difficulties due to unexpected accidents," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create an environment where citizens can live safely."
