Operation of 'Visiting My Side District Office of the Mayor' in Seo-gu, Gwangju

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 3rd that it will operate the "Visiting Mayor's Office by My Side" by touring 18 neighborhoods in the first half of this year as part of Communication Administration Season 2.

Starting from Geumho 1-dong on the 28th of last month, Seo-gu Mayor Kim Ikang has been working at the neighborhood administrative welfare centers every Tuesday, strengthening field-centered communication administration by holding resident meetings, collecting opinions to resolve village issues, and listening to the difficulties of alleyway merchants.

At the first schedule in Geumho 1-dong, Mayor Kim began with a luncheon meeting with staff and continued meetings with seven village organizations including the Residents' Autonomy Committee, the Security Council, the Commercial Prosperity Association, the Apartment Council, the Volunteer Camp Leader, and the Senior Council.

He also acted as a one-day kindness manager, checking the inconveniences of civil petitioners and the working conditions of employees, and collecting opinions to improve the quality of administrative services.

In addition, the schedule of "Visiting Mayor's Office by My Side" continued until 9 p.m. with enthusiastic responses from residents, including visits to Emmaus Workplace and the Village Community Center (Pumda), listening to the difficulties of merchants in Geumho 1-dong Food Alley, on-site inspection of the outdoor small performance hall, and attendance at the Win-Win Village DJ Party.

Residents said, "Until now, even if we had daily life complaints or places to vent, the threshold to visit the district office was too high, so we couldn't even think of going, but the fact that the mayor comes to us first and calmly listens to our stories itself is a big change in administration," adding, "As the distance between the district government and residents becomes closer, we expect Seo-gu's change and development to accelerate."

After a busy day in Geumho 1-dong, Mayor Kim said, "A life-oriented government in Seo-gu must be realized from the villages and alleys," and added, "We will do our best with public officials to create a good administration that prioritizes the public interest by listening carefully even to the small voices of residents, and a village community with kind and warm-hearted neighbors."

Meanwhile, the second schedule of "Visiting Mayor's Office by My Side" is scheduled to take place at Dongcheon-dong Administrative Welfare Center on the 7th.
