Applied to Over 130 Service Centers Nationwide
Introduction of Digital Human Sign Language Guidance
LG Electronics has introduced sign language guidance at its nationwide service centers to enhance service accessibility for customers with disabilities and provide an experience of 'convenient products and services for everyone.'
On the 3rd, LG Electronics announced that it has completed the introduction of digital human sign language services for the hearing impaired on customer reception kiosks at over 130 service centers nationwide. Customers visiting the service centers can receive guidance on how to register for services through kiosks installed at the entrance. At this time, sign language guidance is provided together. Hearing-impaired customers who wish to continue receiving guidance in sign language can conveniently register for services by pressing the sign language button at the bottom of the screen and following the digital human's sign language instructions.
LG Electronics has introduced a proprietary digital human sign language service to customer reception kiosks installed at over 130 service centers nationwide. An LG Electronics service engineer is demonstrating how to receive service by following the digital human's sign language guidance at a kiosk installed in the LG Electronics Gwangjin Service Center located in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
The sign language service is provided by combining not only sign language gestures but also non-verbal elements such as the digital guide's facial expressions and body movements. Considering comprehensive accessibility, text and voice services are also provided alongside sign language. Compared to guidance using only text or sign language, this method offers faster and more accurate information delivery. Customers who have completed registration can also receive instructions on how to use the sign language counseling center, where they can communicate via video with professional sign language counselors. LG Electronics operates a sign language counseling center where professional sign language counselors with product knowledge assist customers with disabilities via video calls.
LG Electronics is making various efforts to improve accessibility to its services and products. In addition to operating home appliance manuals and dedicated counseling services for senior customers, the company is continuously expanding initiatives such as ▲service sign language counseling centers ▲product sign language, video, and voice manuals ▲braille stickers ▲and the operation of an advisory group for people with disabilities. Jung Yeon-chae, Vice President and Head of Customer Value Innovation Division at LG Electronics, said, “We will continue our efforts to provide convenient services for everyone by thoroughly viewing things from the customer's perspective and listening to their voices.”
