Yongsan Youth Center Renovated, Yongsan Youth Digital World Established on the 5th Floor

Establishing a Foundation for a Local Youth Digital Hub

Digital World Opening Event Held, Pre-registration Completed via Yongsan e-Platform

Yongsan-gu has created the 'Yongsan Youth Digital World' as a digitally friendly youth space and began full-scale operation in March.

The Youth Digital World is located on the 5th floor of the Yongsan Youth Center in Ichon-dong. By rearranging the Youth Center space, a digital hub foundation was established to strengthen the future capabilities of youth.

The main areas consist of ▲ Multi-Space Room (makers education such as coding, 3D printer and design) ▲ TranD Pro Room (Yongsan e Metaverse creation and VR experience) ▲ Meta Pro Room (VR play and multimedia viewing) ▲ Midion Room (studio experience and various media content production) ▲ Oenarado Room (AR sports experience).

Here, programs that combine virtual and real worlds using metaverse, AR/VR, and new media are operated. As participatory programs, youth can directly create content by utilizing digital devices installed in the experience center.

Starting in March, career experience programs linked with local elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as educational programs for students transitioning from elementary to middle school, will also be operated.

A representative of the Yongsan Youth Center explained, “The content operated in the digital experience center can be experienced anywhere with equipment such as laptops or tablet PCs, making it expandable to schools, youth facilities, and care institutions.”

Before the opening of the Youth Digital World, the center held an opening event from the 21st to the 25th. Programs such as Yongsan e Metaverse, Easy Emoticon Learning, Midion (ON)-AIR, and AR Sports Experience were operated, and participants were recruited in advance through Yongsan e.

The Yongsan e website is a platform where information on youth facilities in the region, including the Yongsan Youth Center, can be viewed at a glance. It allows one-stop online searching, application, and payment for youth activities and various programs.

Kim Seonsu, Acting Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We will continue efforts such as securing digital-based facilities and operating programs in line with the times to strengthen the capabilities of youth.”
