Fire on a Hillside in Gimcheon, Gyeongbuk... Extinguished After About 3 Hours and 30 Minutes

At around 3:18 PM on the 2nd, a fire broke out in a mountain area in Dongbu-ri, Gaeryeong-myeon, Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk, and was extinguished at around 6:50 PM, about 3 hours and 30 minutes later.

The fire authorities deployed 17 wildfire suppression helicopters, 25 firefighting vehicles, and about 800 personnel to carry out the extinguishing operation.

About 100 residents living near the fire temporarily evacuated to nearby village halls and other locations, but most have returned home. There were no casualties.

The forestry authorities plan to investigate the exact damage area and the cause of the fire once daylight comes.
