Normal Conduct of Dongwon Training Starting This Year

General soldiers have a 2-night, 3-day leave starting from the year after discharge.

This year, the military mobilization training assembly (hereinafter referred to as mobilization training) will begin on the 6th. Mobilization training is conducted for 2 nights and 3 days during peacetime for reserve forces designated as subjects of military mobilization assembly, so that they can perform wartime missions in case of war or similar emergencies.

On the 2nd, the Military Manpower Administration announced, "Due to COVID-19, last year's mobilization training was operated with one day each of assembly training and remote training, but from this year, it will be normally operated in a 2-night, 3-day format."

This year's mobilization training will be conducted until December 7th. General soldiers are subject from the year following their discharge up to the 4th year, and officers and non-commissioned officers are subject from the year following their discharge up to the 6th year. Mobilization training notices will be sent by registered mail at least 7 days before the enlistment date to the reserve forces subject to training. Upon personal request, the notice can also be received via mobile application or email.

The enlistment time is 12:00 for the Army and 13:00 for the Navy and Air Force, considering travel distance. The dismissal time is generally 17:00, but if the assembly unit is located more than 100 km away from the address, early dismissal by 1 to 2 hours may be allowed at the discretion of the unit commander.

Starting this year, to guarantee the right to study, even university (graduate) students on leave can postpone mobilization training assembly due to reasons such as seasonal semester classes. The Military Manpower Administration will implement measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and disaster prevention measures in line with the normalization of mobilization training. All vehicles carrying reserve forces will be inspected in advance, and enlistment confirmation officers who have completed emergency first aid training will be preferentially assigned to the vehicles. Reserve forces confirmed with COVID-19 before the enlistment date will postpone mobilization training, and those who show symptoms during the temperature check process at the intermediate assembly point on the enlistment day will postpone training before boarding the vehicle.
