Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) delivered 105 million KRW in donations to the Embassy of T?rkiye in Korea on the 2nd to aid earthquake recovery efforts.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu, Oh Jung-kyun, Chairperson of Seongbuk-gu Council, and Yoon Jae-sung, Vice Chairman of the Integrated Defense Council representing participating organizations, visited and met with Murat Tamer, Ambassador of T?rkiye to Korea, to mourn the earthquake victims and offer condolences.
The donations were raised over 14 days from February 15 to 28 through a special fundraising campaign involving Seongbuk-gu residents, 48 professional organizations, and about 1,600 district office employees to support earthquake relief efforts.
Earlier, on February 24, Seongbuk-gu directly delivered 137 boxes of relief supplies including clothing, hygiene products, heating items, and daily necessities collected at the emergency relief center set up on the 4th floor of the district office to the logistics center in Incheon designated by the Turkish Embassy.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu said, “We express our deepest condolences to the people of T?rkiye who are grieving from the large-scale earthquake damage. We hope that the donations collected with one heart and one mind by Seongbuk-gu residents will bring comfort to the displaced people of T?rkiye and help them regain their daily lives.”
Seongbuk-gu has a special affection for T?rkiye, known as the ‘brother country.’ During the massive COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, local sewing companies voluntarily donated 10,000 antibacterial masks to overcome difficulties together.

Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) is launching the ‘Nanum Railroad 999’ project this month, encouraging employees to voluntarily and continuously make small donations.
‘Nanum Railroad 999’ operates by deducting a desired amount from the monthly salary of participating employees and donating it.
The monthly donation amount can be chosen as either the amount less than 1,000 KRW after tax deduction or a fixed monthly amount of 3,000 KRW.
The deducted donations are transferred to the Seoul Community Chest of Korea at the end of each month and used for support projects for neighbors in need.
A Guro-gu official said, “Through this project, we expect to secure stable funding to support low-income residents’ living and medical expenses and to spread a culture of continuous giving rather than one-time fundraising.”
Guro-gu also participated in donating funds to support recovery from the earthquake damage in T?rkiye and Syria.
On the 6th, Guro-gu held a donation ceremony at the Renaissance Hall of the district office and delivered 11,136,000 KRW collected by employees to the Community Chest of Korea.
Mayor Moon Heon-il said, “I thank the employees who united in this cause and hope the funds will help the speedy recovery of the earthquake-affected areas and support the victims.”

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Ki-jae) announced on the 2nd that it had delivered about 29 million KRW in donations to the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to support relief activities for displaced people in T?rkiye and Syria.
This fundraising campaign holds special meaning as not only district office staff but also residents voluntarily united to share sorrow and send courage to the people of T?rkiye and Syria suffering from unprecedented earthquake damage.
In particular, from February 22 to 28, the district conducted a seven-day fundraising campaign targeting residents, with 62 individuals and 46 organizations participating, raising about 17 million KRW. Additionally, 1,357 district office employees voluntarily participated, raising about 12 million KRW.
The donated funds will be used through the Community Chest of Korea for operating temporary shelters, medical support, and recovery activities for those who lost their homes due to the earthquake.

Total of 12.28 Million KRW Raised… Wishing for the Victims’ Recovery and Return to Normal Life
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it raised earthquake relief funds for T?rkiye and Syria.
From February 20 to 24, over five days, employees voluntarily participated in fundraising activities, collecting a total of 12.28 million KRW. The funds will be designated and entrusted to the Korean Red Cross to be used for earthquake damage recovery and victim relief.
The district promoted voluntary fundraising to convey courage and hope to the people of T?rkiye and Syria, who have fallen into despair and distress due to the strong earthquake. As a member of the international community, Yeongdeungpo-gu also participated in fundraising to help T?rkiye, a brother country that provided much assistance during the Korean War, and Syria, which suffered significant damage from the earthquake.
Yeongdeungpo-gu employees have consistently shared warmth with vulnerable groups and neighbors in need by raising funds for military personnel support, flood damage recovery, and warm winter campaigns.
Mayor Choi Ho-kwon of Yeongdeungpo-gu said, “We raised funds with the warm hearts of our employees, hoping to help the people of T?rkiye and Syria who lost their homes due to the unprecedented earthquake damage return to their daily lives as soon as possible. Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) donated $10,000 (approximately 12.7 million KRW) through the Korean Red Cross on March 2 to support earthquake recovery in T?rkiye.
On February 6, a magnitude 7.8 major earthquake and subsequent aftershocks occurred near Gaziantep City in southern T?rkiye, causing massive human casualties and economic losses.
In response, on February 10, Gwangjin-gu sent a letter of condolence to Ere?li District of Konya City, T?rkiye, with which it has maintained a sister city relationship for 22 years, and decided to provide emergency relief funds of $10,000.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho of Gwangjin-gu said, “It is deeply saddening and heartbreaking. I express my sincere condolences to the people of T?rkiye who lost their beloved families and homes, and I pray for the swift recovery of the damage.”

The relief funds were secured from contingency funds and delivered through the Korean Red Cross, a disaster relief organization. Gwangjin-gu and Ere?li District of Konya City have maintained a sister city relationship since February 26, 2001, actively exchanging in various fields and continuing their friendly ties.
All Staff of Gwanak-gu United in Voluntary Donations, Raising 17.6 Million KRW in Four Days

About 1,600 Employees of Mapo-gu and Affiliated Organizations Voluntarily Raised 15.8 Million KRW
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Kang-soo) donated 15.8 million KRW to the Korean Red Cross on February 28 to support earthquake recovery and relief activities for victims in T?rkiye and Syria.
The district promoted this fundraising campaign with the aim of sending courage and hope to the people of T?rkiye and Syria, known as brother countries. About 1,600 employees of the district and its affiliated organizations voluntarily participated.
