‘all ways Incheon’ Many roads connect in Incheon. From small alleys and mountain paths to highways, railways, sea routes, and airways... Incheon communicates with the world through its roads. Among these many paths, we introduce the Incheon Dullegil, which adds the joy of walking by allowing you to feel Incheon's history, culture, nature, and people.
This course circles around Gyeyangsan, the guardian mountain of the old Bupyeong (Gyeyang) Dohobu. Walking the ecologically finest guardian mountain trail in Incheon, you can feel the history of Bupyeong and the vitality of all living things embraced by Gyeyangsan. At 395 meters above sea level, Gyeyangsan is the highest mountain in Incheon except for Ganghwado, and from its summit, you can overlook the Han River and Incheon at a glance.
Walking along the mountain path past Cheongsu Arboretum and Gorangjae Pass, you can find a forest that was almost lost to development logic. Since 2006, when a corporation began promoting the construction of a golf course, citizens protected the damaged area. This place, densely populated with pine trees, softly embraces your feet with fallen pine needles every time you step. The name Jungsimseong (衆心成) means a fortress built by gathering the hearts of the people to resist foreign invasions.
At the end of the Joseon Dynasty, Park Heebang, the magistrate of Bupyeong, felt the need to protect Bupyeong, the gateway to Seoul, as Western powers invaded. When an order was issued in 1883 to build a new fortress, he persuaded officials and citizens to build it together. Passing through Jingmae Pass, where falcons were caught and trained to be sent to the Yuan Dynasty during the late Goryeo period under Yuan interference, you arrive at the Gyeyangsan Rose Garden.
At the Gyeyangsan Rose Garden, where roses bloom throughout spring, summer, and autumn, there is a monument to the poet Yi Gyubo, who had a deep connection with Gyeyang Dohobu as its deputy magistrate. Through his works written during his tenure, such as "Manghaeji" and "Chojunggi," one can learn about the landscapes of Gyeyangsan and its surroundings at that time. His poems and writings later became the foundation for the creation of "Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam" and "Bupyeong Eupji." Gyeyangsan crosses the heart of Incheon in an S-shape, intersecting the Hannam Jeongmaek mountain range. The Dullegil was created focusing on this S-shaped green axis to incorporate nature, ecology, culture, and history, and to find effective ways to preserve green spaces.
Even without reaching the summit, this path connects villages and trails, leading into the forest, embodying the meaning of preserving and protecting nature as it is. It is hoped that this path becomes a life path connecting nature and people, and people with people.
