Seocho-gu Achieves 132% of Its 'Warm Winter Campaign' Target Amount KCC Glass Donation Ceremony for Neighbor Assistance Fund of 100 Million Won

From November last year to February this year, a total of 1,657,490,000 KRW was raised in donations and goods... Exceeding the target by 400 million KRW

Raised donations and goods used for heating costs of vulnerable households (150 million KRW) and living and housing expenses for vulnerable groups

Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) raised a total of 1,657,490,000 KRW through the ‘2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign,’ achieving 132% of the initial target amount.

This amount exceeds the original target of 1,250,000,000 KRW by over 400 million KRW. Various local companies, organizations, and individual donors participated, contributing a total of 1,391 cases, with 1,050,290,000 KRW in cash donations and 607,200,000 KRW in goods.

The ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ is a winter neighbor-helping project jointly conducted by Seocho-gu and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest to spread a culture of sharing and assist neighbors in need. It was held over three months from November 15 last year to February 14 this year.

Despite difficult economic conditions such as COVID-19 and steep inflation, donors from all walks of life, including individuals, organizations, and companies, united to deliver warm hearts through donations and goods.

In particular, Yongma Electronics donated 100 million KRW to support low-income vulnerable households and welfare facilities, and KCC Glass also donated 100 million KRW to support youth preparing for independence.

Additionally, many donors expressed their warm hearts in various ways, including companies whose employees participate by donating part of their monthly salaries, children who saved their pocket money and brought piggy banks with their small hands, and small business owners who give back to society despite the economic downturn.

The raised donations were first used to provide a total of 150 million KRW in heating costs to 2,000 low-income energy-vulnerable households suffering from cold waves and soaring heating bills. Going forward, the funds will be used for welfare enhancement projects such as living expenses, medical costs, and housing expenses for vulnerable groups. Goods such as rice, kimchi, and heating supplies were immediately distributed to low-income residents in need.

Meanwhile, the district promoted various fundraising activation measures to achieve the ‘Warm Winter Campaign’ target. These included installing a ‘Love Temperature Tower’ and promotional materials inside the district office, promoting non-face-to-face donation methods using QR codes, and hosting an event in December last year inviting 100 donors titled ‘Seocho’s Future, Walking Together with 100 Donors.’

Along with this, the ‘Seoripul Donation Wall,’ where donors’ names are displayed on an LED screen, was set up on the second floor of the district office to honor donors and share the achievements of the sharing project, contributing to the spread of the local community donation culture.

Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “I thank everyone who actively participated in the Warm Winter fundraising,” and added, “We will continue to walk together with the vulnerable by taking care of more people in need and those marginalized.”

‘Gwanak-gu’s Love Temperature Reaches 126 Degrees’

Warm Winter Fundraising Amount Reaches 2,272,400,000 KRW

Despite economic downturn, fundraising exceeded last year by 149,400,000 KRW, reaching 2,272,400,000 KRW

Despite difficulties such as economic recession and rising prices, the hearts of Gwanak-gu residents to share warmth with neighbors remained warm.

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) raised 2,272,400,000 KRW, far exceeding the target of 1,800,000,000 KRW in the ‘2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ campaign.

The district, together with the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, worked for three months from November 15 last year to February 14 this year to raise private funds so that neighbors in need could have a warm winter.

To encourage voluntary participation and interest from local residents, organizations, and companies, a Love Temperature Tower was installed in the district office lobby at the start of the campaign. The Love Temperature rose by 1℃ each time 18 million KRW (1% of the target) was raised, ultimately surpassing 100℃ and reaching 126℃.

Especially, despite concerns that fundraising might decrease this year due to residents’ significant help with flood damage recovery last year, participation increased more than before, delivering great inspiration.

Although there were no major donors or companies compared to other local governments, many companies and foundations such as Tandy, Seegene Medical Foundation, Boryung Heavy Mass, Seogwang Industry, Yeong-eun Power, and Sein Together donated cash and goods. Various warm support continued from resident groups, religious organizations, industry associations, individual donors, and even children’s piggy banks.

Also, Gwanak-gu public officials participated by donating part of their monthly salaries over the past year, contributing 100 million KRW to help neighbors in need and share warm hearts.

The district plans to use the 1,141,760,000 KRW in cash donations and 1,130,640,000 KRW in goods raised through this campaign to support low-income families, crisis households in welfare blind spots, and social welfare facilities. It will express gratitude to individuals and organizations who continuously sent warm love through awards, certificates of appreciation, and letters.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Thanks to many people who sent warm hands despite difficult times, neighbors in need were able to have a warm winter,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the precious hearts gathered with one mind and one spirit are used meaningfully.”

Jungnang-gu Residents’ Warm Neighborly Love Raises Record High Amount

Goods prioritized for vulnerable households... Donations used to identify and support welfare blind spots

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi)’s ‘2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ concluded this year by achieving the highest fundraising amount ever, gathering the warm hearts of residents.

The ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ is an annual fundraising project jointly conducted by Jungnang-gu and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest. Over three months from November last year, donations of about 690 million KRW in cash and about 1,080 million KRW in goods were raised, totaling approximately 1,770 million KRW, far exceeding the initial target and setting a record high.

Children at local daycare centers donated money saved in ‘Love Piggy Banks’ with their small hands, and 22 students from a local children’s center in Mangwoo-bon-dong pooled their pocket money to donate. A volunteer group in Sinnae 1-dong donated 8,600 briquettes and personally delivered them, bringing warmth to neighbors. Religious organizations and companies also continuously donated daily necessities, traditional market gift certificates, and sponsorship funds.

Goods worth about 1,080 million KRW were first delivered to 36,000 households of vulnerable residents such as national basic livelihood recipients, elderly living alone, single-parent families, and children in foster care to help them have a warm winter. The remaining donations will be used by each neighborhood to identify and support welfare blind spots.

The district plans to award commendations and certificates of appreciation to individuals and organizations who practiced neighborly love through donations of money and goods and contributed to spreading the donation culture in the community.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “The warm hearts of the compassionate Jungnang-gu residents helped neighbors have a warm winter again this year,” and added, “Going forward, the district will do its utmost to promote welfare for the happiness and warmth of all residents.”

Donated cash and goods are used to support low-income residents and those in welfare blind spots within the district.

From November last year to February this year, Guro-gu made various efforts to increase residents’ interest and participation in fundraising.

The district held the ‘2023 Hope Sharing Proclamation Ceremony’ with key guests representing Guro-gu and members of the local community security council who work to identify welfare blind spots, providing campaign information and encouraging participation. The non-face-to-face donation method using QR codes, introduced in 2020, was continuously promoted. Various promotional activities were also conducted through the district office website and newsletters targeting local residents, organizations, and companies.

Thank-you letters will be sent to over 1,100 donors who participated in the 2023 Warm Winter Campaign. In addition, outstanding donors will receive plaques of appreciation and certificates of thanks.

The district was recognized for its contribution to spreading a culture of sharing, receiving the ‘Hope Award’ at the 9th Love Fruit Awards hosted by the Social Welfare Community Chest last year, the first among Seoul’s autonomous districts, and was selected as an excellent autonomous district for the ‘2022 Warm Winter Campaign.’

Mayor Moon Heon-il said, “Despite difficult circumstances such as high prices and high interest rates, many residents and organizations united to participate in this campaign, and I thank them,” adding, “We will ensure that the precious donations and goods are delivered to where they are needed.”
