Kang Hyo-won, known as producer Pdogg of the group BTS, has ranked first in domestic copyright royalty income for five consecutive years. The Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) announced that Pdogg won the grand prize in both lyric writing and composition in the popular music category at the '9th KOMCA Copyright Awards' held on the 28th.
The Copyright Award is given annually to lyricists and composers who receive the highest copyright royalties in each category in Korea. With this award, Pdogg has earned the honor of winning both lyric writing and composition awards in the popular music category for five consecutive years since 2019.
KOMCA stated, "Pdogg played a significant role in BTS's growth as a global artist and in establishing K-pop as a culture loved worldwide."
In the popular music arrangement category, composer Jo Young-soo won the grand prize for the third consecutive year. Jo Young-soo has won the arrangement grand prize five times in the history of the Copyright Awards.
In the children's song category, Lee Sang-hee set a new record by winning the Copyright Award for three consecutive years. Yiruma took home the grand prize in the classical category for two consecutive years.
In the traditional Korean music category, composer Park Kyung-hoon, who created the Seoul subway transfer music "Pungnyeon," received the grand prize.
The 'Song of the Year' award, given to the most streamed song last year, was awarded to BTS's "Butter."
