Dong-A University Department of Industrial Engineering for Small and Medium Enterprises Contract Program Holds Degree Conferment Ceremony

Dong-A University held the ‘2023 Academic Year First Semester Industrial Engineering Department (Small and Medium Business Contract Department) 11th Graduation Ceremony.’

The graduation ceremony, held on the 25th at Kyungdong Hall on Seunghak Campus, was attended by Jang Sang-mok, Dean of the College of Engineering, Kim Jun-woo, Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, graduates, and Kim Cheong-wook, CEO of Sunbo Unitech, representing the participating companies of the contract department.

At the ceremony, 17 students received their Bachelor of Engineering degrees, bringing the total number of graduates from Dong-A University’s Small and Medium Business Contract Industrial Engineering Department to 229.

The Small and Medium Business Contract Department is a degree program that supports employment-first, education-later through collaboration among companies, universities, and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to secure excellent high-level talent and encourage long-term employment, allowing working professionals to balance their studies with their current jobs.

Dean Jang Sang-mok said at the ceremony, “I sincerely congratulate all the graduates who have earned their honorable bachelor's degrees,” adding, “I hope you will respond to the Fourth Industrial Revolution as experts equipped with diverse major knowledge and practical skills learned over the past two years at the university, and play a central role in the development of the regional industrial economy.”

Department Head Kim Jun-woo stated, “As volatility and business uncertainty increase, it is a time when turnaround strategies are needed to improve corporate profits,” and added, “With the support of the Regional Small and Medium Business Administration and participating companies that have invested in training high-level talent through re-education of employees in the Small and Medium Business Contract Department, we hope to help create results and enable companies to sustain growth.”

Kim Jong-chul, CEO of Taekwang Hightech, said, “I sincerely congratulate those who have diligently pursued their studies and earned valuable degrees amid the pandemic and global economic crisis, and I also deeply thank the families who supported balancing work and study.” Kim previously served as president of the Industrial Management Engineering Alumni Association.

Since 2011, Dong-A University has been operating the Small and Medium Business Contract Department and has consistently received an S grade (highest) in operational performance evaluations by the Small and Medium Business Corporation.

Currently, Dong-A University operates three Small and Medium Business Contract Departments in total, including the ‘Industrial Engineering Department (Bachelor’s)’ and the ‘Smart Production Convergence Systems Engineering Department (Master’s/Bachelor’s).’
