Changwon Special City Stands Out as the Only Excellent Agency in Gyeongnam for Proactive Administration Evaluation

Ministry of the Interior and Safety-led, Achieved 'Excellence' Nationwide Among Local Governments

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam was the only institution in Gyeongnam to be selected as an excellent organization in the ‘2022 Comprehensive Evaluation of Active Administration by Local Governments’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted a comprehensive evaluation of 243 local governments nationwide (17 metropolitan and 226 basic) based on 16 indicators across five major categories including efforts to promote active administration, performance outcomes, and citizen perception in 2022, rating them as ‘Excellent,’ ‘Average,’ or ‘Poor.’

The city established the ‘2022 Active Administration Implementation Plan,’ selected and favored 24 outstanding active administration public officials to encourage a culture of active administration within the public service, and conducted citizen voting when selecting excellent cases to share the achievements of active administration with citizens.

Through this, the city achieved various active administration results such as ▲attracting Market Kurly’s logistics center for the first time outside the metropolitan area ▲providing support for demolition costs of old bathhouse chimneys nationwide for the first time ▲resolving commuting inconveniences to Gapogo High School through proactive bus route reorganization ▲establishing a seamless COVID-19 living support payment system.

Earlier, in December last year, the city was selected as an excellent organization for the ‘Active Administration National Application System,’ a system where citizens request public officials to solve public interest issues using the active administration system, and received a commendation from the Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “Achieving this ‘Excellent’ rating was possible because of the active administration efforts of all Changwon Special City employees to resolve citizen inconveniences,” and added, “In the rapidly changing administrative environment, we will break away from conventions and carry out creative and proactive administration to create changes that citizens can feel.”
