Announcement and Implementation from March
Gangwon Province announced on the 28th that it will advance and expand the "Renewable Energy Housing Support Project" for carbon neutrality starting in March, ahead of the original plan.
The "Renewable Energy Housing Support Project" is a policy that provides partial installation cost support from national and city/county funds when owners of detached or multi-family houses install renewable energy facilities such as solar power and geothermal energy for self-consumption.
The province plans to provide support until the entire budget of 32.9 billion KRW for this year is exhausted, and will support about 5,000 households, which is double the original plan of supporting approximately 2,500 households.
The installation cost for a 3 kW residential solar power generation facility is about 5.3 million KRW, with a self-pay amount of about 1.53 million KRW.
Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Province, said, "The fundamental way to reduce residents' heating costs in the era of renewable energy use for carbon neutrality lies in carbon neutrality and renewable energy," adding, "We will continue to expand and discover energy policies for carbon neutrality in the future."
