Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is launching a full survey of vulnerable single-person households to prevent solitary deaths among the vulnerable and to identify welfare blind spots.
On the 28th, Yongin City announced that it will conduct a status survey of all 9,700 single-person households receiving basic living subsidies or legally designated as second-lowest income households within the city by the end of next month.
The city will also conduct a full survey of households consisting of two or more members who are vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, or minors.
The survey will be conducted by welfare officers from 38 eup, myeon, and dong districts via phone calls. If contact cannot be made, they will visit in person to conduct the survey. Survey items include current residence status, presence of cohabiting family members, health, meals, and activity status.
Based on the survey results, the city will analyze and classify households into management target households and high-risk households. Management target households will receive weekly check-in calls for monitoring, while high-risk households will receive continuous management through visits by welfare and nursing officials from eup, myeon, and dong offices, providing ongoing integrated case management.
A city official stated, "This full survey is conducted to identify high-risk groups to prevent tragic situations and to build a stronger social safety net." The official also urged, "We ask citizens not to overlook neighbors in difficulty and to report so that they can receive assistance from the city or government."
