2023 Dongdaemun-gu School Uniform Sharing Market Successfully Held

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the ‘2023 Dongdaemun-gu School Uniform Sharing Market’ on the 26th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the second-floor multipurpose auditorium of the district office.

A total of 1,157 school uniforms were donated by graduates from five middle schools (Gyeonghui Middle, Dongdaemun Middle, Sungin Middle, Seongil Middle, Hwikyung Girls’ Middle) and two high schools (Gyeonghui High, Haeseong International Convention High). After thorough cleaning, 797 uniforms were sold. The sales revenue of approximately 1.65 million KRW will be fully donated to the Dongdaemun Scholarship Fund.

A parent who purchased a uniform said, “There are more clean uniforms than I expected. It’s fortunate that uniforms that might have been discarded due to no longer being needed can be reused by those in need through this event.”

Mayor Lee Pil-hyung, who visited the event, mentioned the special stories behind the items and said, “I hope the warm hearts of seniors embedded in the uniforms purchased at the sharing market will carry the excitement and expectations of the new school year.”

In a time when preparing necessary items for the new semester is burdensome due to economic downturn and rising prices, the school uniform sharing market is providing a small help to students and parents in Dongdaemun-gu ahead of the new semester.
