Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that it held a launch ceremony and safety training for the successful implementation of the '2023 Forest Sector Financial Support Job Project.'

The county is promoting forest projects such as removing kudzu vines to protect forest resources, create beautiful roadside landscapes, and generate employment.

The 39 participants in the forest sector financial support job project are divided into public forest maintenance, forest disaster jobs, and forest service helper jobs. They will carry out activities such as maintenance within visible forest areas along major roads and around residential zones, urban green space and hiking trail maintenance, forest pest control and monitoring, as well as rapid recovery in case of unexpected forest damage caused by typhoons or landslides.

In particular, they plan to focus all efforts on the repeated and concentrated removal of kudzu vines along major roads and residential areas.

With the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, this is a critical time for preventing safety accidents and establishing countermeasures. Accordingly, a professional instructor from the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency was invited to provide education on the overview and practical aspects of risk assessment to ensure worker safety and to raise safety awareness. Workers also read aloud a safety accident prevention pledge to foster a consensus on quality improvement and safety.

County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “We will preserve the clean and beautiful forests our county possesses and provide job opportunities to residents who are struggling due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19.”

Since forest jobs are concentrated around residential areas, the county plans to proceed with the project while paying close attention to safety management, including wearing safety equipment.
