[Box Office] 'Ant-Man 3' Tops for 2nd Week... Struggling with 1.31 Million

'Slam Dunk' Ranks 2nd... 'Count' Starts at 3rd Place

The Marvel movie "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" (hereafter "Ant-Man 3") has topped the weekend box office for two consecutive weeks.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 27th, "Ant-Man 3" attracted 244,250 viewers over the three days of last weekend (24th-26th), securing the number one spot at the box office. The film, which was released on the 15th, has accumulated a total audience of 1,312,804 in just 12 days.

"Ant-Man 3" depicts the story of the Ant-Man family who fall into the unknown quantum realm and face Kang the Conqueror, who rules the infinite universe, confronting a threat that transcends time and space.

Although it was anticipated as the film to open Marvel Phase 5, it has underperformed expectations. While it has maintained the top spot for two consecutive weekends, the pace of audience growth is not threatening. It drew about 240,000 viewers on the second weekend and only managed to attract around 1.31 million viewers in 12 days.

Last November, "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" reached 1 million viewers by the 5th day and barely surpassed 2 million viewers in 20 days. "Ant-Man 3" is slower in reaching milestones compared to that.

In second place was the Japanese animation "The First Slam Dunk," which attracted 170,583 viewers. Released on the 4th of last month, the film steadily gained popularity through word of mouth and has recorded a cumulative audience of 3,579,749.

In third place was "Count," starring actor Jin Seon-gyu, which was released on the 22nd. It drew 146,331 viewers, while "Search 2," released on the same day, attracted 129,581 viewers and took fourth place. "Marui Video," which was also released simultaneously, ranked fifth with 60,233 viewers.

The total number of moviegoers who visited theaters over the weekend was 911,242.
