Introduction to Key Technologies for Building Cross-National Digital Payment Infrastructure
BC Card is the only domestic card company participating in the world's largest mobile telecommunications exhibition to showcase various cross-border payment technologies.
On the 27th, BC Card announced that it will attend the 'Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023' event held in Barcelona, Spain, from today until next month’s 2nd. As the only domestic card company attending, it plans to introduce a mobile-based cross-border payment network (N2N) system. This is BC Card's third participation in MWC, following 2014 and 2015.
Under the theme of "Seamless Payments Beyond Borders," BC Card plans to introduce its self-developed digital payment platforms and technologies such as 'Page,' 'BC Gateway,' and 'Vice.' ‘Page’ is an online commerce platform where sellers can register, sell, and manage products, as well as a mobile-based simple payment solution. ‘BC Gateway’ is a system that intermediates cross-border payment information generated through various payment methods such as e-wallets, QR payments, and cards. ‘Vice’ is a global dedicated card transaction approval and slip acquisition system.
For example, when a customer makes a mobile payment at a K-pop goods merchant opened on ‘Page,’ the payment information between the merchant and the issuer is relayed through the cross-border network via ‘BC Gateway,’ and ‘Vice’ settles the payment to the merchant by approving and acquiring the transaction. BC Card has set up a space at the booth prepared with KT where visitors can experience this payment process.
This service is also a core part of KT Group’s cross-border payment network construction project. BC Card has already secured a national digital payment project in Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia last year in cooperation with KT and expanded it to Central Asia this year. In January, it also signed a strategic partnership with Mongolia to build digital financial infrastructure.
Choi Won-seok, CEO of BC Card, said, "Through MWC, we demonstrated that BC Card’s payment technology is applicable anywhere in the world," adding, "We will continue to focus on securing the overseas payment market by building cross-border payment infrastructure."
