[Asia Economy Reporter Wan-yong Cha] Hyundai Engineering & Construction has won the contract for the Gumi Hyeonggok 4th Apartment Complex Reconstruction Project in Gyeongbuk.
The Gumi Hyeonggok 4th Apartment Complex Housing Reconstruction Maintenance Association held an extraordinary general meeting on the 25th to select a construction company and announced on the 26th that Hyundai Engineering & Construction was chosen as the final contractor.
The Gumi Hyeonggok 4th Apartment Complex Housing Reconstruction Maintenance Project involves reconstructing the apartment complex of Public Housing Complex 4 in Hyeonggok-dong 169, Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk. Originally completed in 1988 with 430 households, this complex will be reborn as a new complex with 8 buildings ranging from 3 basement floors to 32 above-ground floors, totaling 759 households through reconstruction. The total construction cost is approximately 223.7 billion KRW, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction will undertake the project independently.

Hyeonggok-dong, located in the heart of the old downtown area of Gumi, which is the most preferred residential area in the city and is called the "Gangnam of Gumi," is adjacent to Geumo Mountain and has excellent education, transportation, and living infrastructure, making it highly desirable for residence. Near the complex, there are many private academies, and solid living infrastructure such as marts and cinemas. Gumi City Hall and Gumi Cha Hospital are also nearby.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction proposed the name "Hillstate Gumi The Class (THE CLASS)" for the Gumi Hyeonggok 4th Apartment Complex Reconstruction Project. The company explained that by adding "THE," which means unique, before "CLASS," which represents elegance and excellence, they intend to create a premium residential complex in Gumi that is one of a kind and of a different class.
Hillstate Gumi The Class will apply luxury designs befitting the brand. The exterior design features a hexagonal structure shaped like a turtle, a symbol of Gumi, and an L-shaped pattern to enhance the symbolism as a premium residential complex in Gumi. On the rooftop of the tallest building in the complex, a 60-meter-long oversized sky terrace with lighting on all sides will be installed, allowing residents to enjoy a panoramic view of Geumo Mountain. The main gate of the complex is designed as a grand-scale gate, creating a luxurious and sophisticated atmosphere.
Within the complex, a 340-pyeong (approximately 1,122 square meters) educational community will be established, including H-i Forest (indoor children's playground), a children's library, and a culture lounge. Various facilities such as an indoor golf practice range and a dry sauna will also be included. Additionally, through specialized design, all units are planned with slab-type and cross-ventilation structures to maintain the indoor living environment in optimal condition, and the ceiling height is maximized to 2.4 meters with a well-type ceiling to enhance the sense of openness indoors.
