Taipei Also Joins... 10,000 Free Tour Bus Tickets for Tourists

March 14 to June 30 Individual Travelers Targeted
Announcement of Free Airfare Campaign Including Hong Kong and Macao

Taipei City in Taiwan is offering 10,000 free city tour bus tickets to attract tourists. Recently, various benefits have been actively promoted to attract tourists in the Chinese-speaking region.


According to Taiwan Central News Agency on the 26th, Taipei authorities announced the day before that from May 14 to June 30, they will provide 10,000 free 4-hour city tour bus tickets to individual travelers rather than group tourists. Eligible ticket recipients include travelers staying at designated hotels in Taipei for two or more nights, cruise passengers staying in Taipei for more than 15 hours, and transit passengers on flights to Europe.

The Taipei city tour bus is a double-decker bus that passes through major Taipei attractions such as the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Daan Park, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and the National Palace Museum. It operates on two routes?east-west and north-south directions (Red and Blue lines). Ticket holders can freely get on and off the buses on both routes without limit for 4 hours according to their schedule.


Taipei authorities stated, "We are ready to welcome tourists from around the world," and announced various events starting with the flower festival next month.


As the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, China reopened its borders on April 8 after three years, following which Hong Kong and Macau also launched large-scale tourist attraction campaigns.


On May 2, Hong Kong announced the "Hello Hong Kong" campaign, a HKD 2 billion (approximately 311.7 billion KRW) tourism promotion project, including offering 500,000 free airline tickets to global tourists for six months starting June 1.


Following this, Macau announced on May 3, "This year, we will provide 120,000 free airline tickets to attract tourists from Mainland China, Taiwan, and overseas," adding, "Starting mid-May, we will begin tourism promotion tours in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other cities, while also conducting tourism promotions and discount events targeting the Taiwan and Southeast Asian markets."
