'Gwanghwamun Chaekmadang' Conducts Cultural and Experience Programs with Citizens

Sejong Lounge Branch March and April Lectures and Experience Programs

On the 27th, it was announced that during the pilot operation period from March to April, the 'Gwanghwamun Chaekmadang' Sejong Lounge branch will operate author lectures and experiential programs targeting office workers near Gwanghwamun and citizens interested in performing arts.

The first program at the 'Gwanghwamun Chaekmadang' Sejong Lounge branch will be an author lecture related to "musicals." On the 3rd, for office workers near Gwanghwamun and others, from 12 PM for one hour, Hwang Jogyo, author of Musical Express Superstar, will share stories about musical-related knowledge and 2023 trends under the title "Musicals Reflected in My Heart."

Through this lecture, it is expected that citizens who have been interested in musicals but found them difficult and distant will have an easier opportunity to understand and approach musicals than before.

From April 6 to April 21, using lunchtime every Monday and Friday, an experiential program titled “Let Me Crochet During Lunch Break” will be held eight times with Park Hyungah, author of The Happy Crocheter’s Handmade Creations, where participants can crochet various everyday items.

Participants in the crochet program are expected to gain not only a sense of accomplishment by creating practical items during their lunch break but also experience connecting daily life with book culture spaces.

Oh Ji-eun, director of the Seoul Metropolitan Library, said, “We hope that the programs conducted during the pilot operation period of the 'Gwanghwamun Chaekmadang' Sejong Lounge branch will bring us closer to the citizens,” adding, “Furthermore, when 'Gwanghwamun Chaekmadang' officially opens on April 23, we plan to operate a variety of programs to help citizens gain new inspiration in their daily lives.”
