[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] LG Uplus announced on the 26th that starting from the 27th, it will provide the spam blocking service app ‘U+Spam Call Alert’ free of charge to mobile customers. This is the second measure following the free USIM replacement, as part of the customer personal information protection enhancement plan announced on the 16th.
This app allows users to immediately check whether an incoming call is spam through a notification window. It offers features that enable customers to block various types of calls, including high-risk spam calls, international calls, and calls with caller ID restrictions.
LG Uplus mobile and MVNO customers using the LG Uplus network will be able to use the app service for free starting on the 27th. Separate text messages with app download instructions will be sent to LG Uplus mobile and MVNO customers whose personal information leakage has been confirmed.
The usage is simple. Customers can download ‘U+Spam Call Alert’ from the app markets ‘Play Store’ or ‘One Store’ and use the service through free registration. The service for iOS devices (iPhone) will begin in May. Additionally, customers who were already using the paid app service will not be charged from January of this year.
An LG Uplus official stated, "We will continue to consider high-quality customer care measures for LG Uplus subscribers, such as USIM replacement and spam blocking service support."
Meanwhile, LG Uplus operates a dedicated Customer Information Protection Center where customers can consult and inquire about information leakage, in addition to the existing customer center. Small business owners and PC bang operators affected by DDoS attacks can report damages through the Damage Support Center and the website.
