Spanish Prime Minister Visits Kyiv on the 1st Anniversary of the War's Outbreak

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez visited Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on the 23rd (local time).

On the same day, Prime Minister Sanchez stated on his Twitter, "I have returned to Kyiv on the first anniversary of the outbreak of the war." This is Sanchez's second visit to Kyiv since the Ukraine-Russia war began, following his visit in April last year.

The accompanying video showed Sanchez arriving in Kyiv by train. Sanchez emphasized in both Spanish and Ukrainian, "We will support Ukraine and its people until peace returns to Europe."

In a subsequent post, Sanchez mentioned Bucha and Irpin, where massacres by Russian forces occurred, saying, "They show the wounds and scars caused by the barbaric Putin," and stressed, "Russia will not win this war."

During this visit to Kyiv, Sanchez is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Meanwhile, as the first anniversary of the Ukraine war approaches, visits by Western leaders to Kyiv have become frequent. On the 20th, U.S. President Joe Biden visited Kyiv, followed by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the 21st.
