Lotte Cinema (CEO Choi Byung-hwan) announced on the 23rd that it will hold a special screening of the films 'Hero' and 'A Resistance: The Story of Yu Gwan-sun' to commemorate the 104th anniversary of Samiljeol.
'Hero' (director Yoon Je-kyun), which was released in December last year and surpassed 3.2 million cumulative viewers, depicts the last year of independence activist Ahn Jung-geun, from the time he was preparing the assassination of Ito Hirobumi in Harbin in October 1909 to the moment of his death after being sentenced to death by the Japanese court. The film stars Jung Sung-hwa, Kim Go-eun, Bae Jung-nam, and Park Jin-joo.
'A Resistance: The Story of Yu Gwan-sun' (director Jo Min-ho), released in 2019, portrays the story of Yu Gwan-sun, who led the 'Aunae Market March Movement' in her hometown Byeongcheon, Chungcheongnam-do, after the March 1st Movement that began in Jongno, Seoul in March 1919, and spent about a year imprisoned in Seodaemun Prison, which was less than a few pyeong in size. Actress Go Ah-sung plays Yu Gwan-sun.
Joon-ho Lee, team leader at Lotte Cinema, said, "We hope that watching these films at Lotte Cinema will provide a meaningful experience to reflect on the historical significance of the March 1st Movement," and added, "We plan to hold various and meaningful screenings in the future."
