Editing incomplete...? tvN's 'You Quiz' breaks promise with viewers

Was the editing incomplete? The cable channel tvN's variety show 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereinafter 'You Quiz') abruptly stopped broadcasting during the airing. This is the third time a broadcast accident has occurred on tvN, following the drama 'Hwayugi' (2017) and the variety show 'New Journey to the West 8' (2020).

The 182nd episode of tvN's 'You Quiz,' aired on the 22nd, featured the theme "How to Fight and Win Against Geniuses," with guests including former national weightlifting representative Professor Jang Mi-ran and musician Jung Jae-il, who talked with Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho.

Previously, 'You Quiz' had heavily promoted Professor Jang Mi-ran's appearance. Recently, Jang Mi-ran's name was mentioned in a popular drama. This was enough to attract attention from viewers curious about the current status of the gold medalist Jang Mi-ran. In particular, news that she is currently working as a professor at a university in Gyeonggi Province focused interest on her story.

While discussing the time when Jang Mi-ran won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, suddenly a video from last week's episode titled 'Emergency' started playing.

'You Quiz' announced via subtitles, "Due to broadcasting circumstances, the broadcast is delayed. 'You Quiz on the Block' will resume shortly." They added, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to viewers and ask for your kind understanding."

Afterwards, 'You Quiz' aired last week's episode for about an hour but was unable to resume the broadcast. Eventually, the next scheduled program, the drama 'Sacred Idol,' was aired.

After the broadcast ended, the production team stated, "During the final editing process of 'You Quiz on the Block' episode 182, a technical error occurred causing a delay in the master delivery, which led to the interruption of the live broadcast and the airing of last week's episode (episode 181) instead."

They continued, "The episode featuring former national weightlifting representative Jang Mi-ran, which was not aired today, is scheduled to be broadcast during the 183rd episode of 'You Quiz on the Block' on Wednesday, March 1st at 8:40 PM."

The production team apologized sincerely, saying, "We deeply apologize for causing great inconvenience to our viewers. Considering that Jang Mi-ran kindly took her valuable time, we tried to deliver a more in-depth story to the viewers, but ultimately, we caused a major mistake and controversy, for which we are sorry." They also promised, "We will strengthen our production management procedures to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future."

While YouTube content adheres strictly to upload schedules, why do amateur-like broadcast accidents keep recurring on tvN, a cable channel under CJ ENM?

The production team's statement that "a technical error caused a delay in master delivery" suggests that editing was delayed. Such an explanation in 2023 is painful. The fatigue viewers feel due to the disappointing failure to meet the program's popularity is considerable.

Isn't keeping promises to viewers more important than securing star guests to boost publicity and creating entertaining broadcasts?
