Expecting 'ZERO' Harbor Industry Accidents
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced on the 22nd that it has completed the patent registration for the 'Marine Safety Mattress,' the first of its kind in ports, designed to protect workers at port construction sites.
The newly secured patent was developed through joint research with the R&D company Smart Air Chamber Co., Ltd. to provide protective measures for workers against secondary underwater accidents (caused by currents and underwater obstacles) that can lead to serious injuries when workers fall into the sea at port construction sites.

Choi Sang-heon, Vice President (Head of Development Business Division), said, "We expect to achieve 'ZERO' port industry accidents at port construction sites through the expanded application of the Marine Safety Mattress," adding, "We will do our best to ensure the safety of workers at port construction sites not only through the Marine Safety Mattress but also by continuously discovering new R&D projects."
