The divisions such as joinery, wood lathe, wood burning, wood carving, scroll saw, and seal engraving are intensively training 2 to 4 times a month to improve skills.

Through skill transfer and research, they are developing capabilities from basic techniques to producing works, and plan to promote and sell various products through exhibitions.

These efforts are being carried out with the goal of submitting works to the regular exhibition this fall and the woodcraft contest hosted by Jeonnam Province.

By exhibiting the produced woodcraft works, they aim to provide good attractions to tourists visiting Woodland and help improve the image of Jangheung-gun.

The Jangheung Woodcraft Association is composed of graduates from the woodcraft artisan training education regularly conducted every year with the support of Jangheung-gun.

They have established a shared workshop for continuous activities, and on the second Saturday of every month, they operate the ‘Mallejang’ at the Woodland Imoldae Square together with local handmade craft producers in Jangheung.

President Wi Seong-eup of the Jangheung Woodcraft Association said, “The achievements of each division’s activities will lead to exhibitions, contests, and Mallejang. This is the most important activity of the year to solidify the association’s activities, motivate work, and show results.”

A county official stated, “We will actively cooperate in the transfer of necessary skills and the use of equipment for the development of the wood industry and improvement of woodcraft skills through cooperation and coexistence between the Jangheung Wood Industry Support Center and the Jangheung Woodcraft Association.”
