'Gangnam Entertainment Bar Drug' One Companion Tests Positive for Drugs

Positive Drug Test... Investigation into Case Connection
Investigation Expected to Conclude This Month

'Gangnam Entertainment Bar Drug' One Companion Tests Positive for Drugs

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] It has been confirmed that a woman who was present at the time tested positive for drugs in connection with the Gangnam entertainment bar death case.

On the 21st, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that after conducting a detailed drug analysis by the National Forensic Service (NFS) on the companions immediately following the Gangnam entertainment bar death incident, woman A tested positive for MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine).

However, the NFS judged that the drug use occurred several months prior, not on the day of the incident, and the police are examining the connection between the positive drug test and the death case. In the case of methamphetamine, all three companions tested negative.

Last July, a 30-year-old female employee A died after drinking alcohol suspected to contain drugs at an entertainment bar in Gangnam. Customer B, who was with her, was found unconscious in a nearby park and was later transported to a hospital but passed away.

The police investigated four individuals involved in supplying and distributing drugs to A and sent them to the prosecution in August last year on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. They are currently investigating whether the three companions were accomplices.

A police official stated, "We plan to conclude the investigation within this month."
