[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is launching a milk support project to check on the well-being of elderly people living alone.
Buk-gu will sign a business agreement with Korea Sharing Federation on the ‘Milk Support Project for Elderly People Living Alone’ on the 22nd.
At the signing ceremony, both organizations pledged to actively cooperate in promoting the milk support project to check on the well-being and improve the health of vulnerable elderly people.
Accordingly, Buk-gu will select and manage 200 elderly households living alone who are at risk due to illness, disability, or social isolation as recipients of the milk support, and Korea Sharing Federation will provide milk three times a week to the elderly from next month until February of next year for one year.
Through this, milk delivery workers will regularly check the health and safety of the elderly living alone who are recipients of the support, and if any signs of abnormality such as milk being left unattended for more than two days are found, they will immediately notify the 119 Safety Center and Buk-gu Office.
Moon In, the head of Buk-gu Office, said, “This project is significant in that it goes beyond simple milk support to build a more solid social safety net for vulnerable elderly people,” and added, “We thank the Korea Sharing Federation for practicing meaningful sharing.”
Meanwhile, Korea Sharing Federation operates the Angel Free Meal Service in Buk-gu, serving warm lunches to the elderly three times a week, and in December last year, donated goods worth 100 million won including kimchi, white rice, and ramen, leading the way in neighborly love.
