Changwon Special City Seongsan-gu, Gyeongnam's First 'Seongsan Robot Officer' Pilot Operation

Appointed AI Robot Officer in Charge of 'Guidance, Disinfection, and Serving'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Seongsan-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, appoints a total of three robots performing the tasks of ‘guidance, disinfection, and serving’ as the first ‘Seongsan Robot Officers’ in Gyeongnam to establish a smart and innovative work environment and provide administrative services within the government building.


Since January, Seongsan-gu has been collaborating with related companies to research the application of artificial intelligence technology to local government work environments, resulting in this pilot operation project. The district office plans to deploy a total of three robots within the building to provide smart administrative services and convenience to visitors and residents.

Changwon Special City Seongsan-gu, Gyeongnam's First 'Seongsan Robot Officer' Pilot Operation Gyeongnam Changwon Special City Seongsan District Office operates the 'Seongsan Robot Administrator' for the first time in Gyeongnam.

The first Seongsan Robot, the ‘Guidance Robot,’ provides facility guidance and wayfinding services; the second, the ‘Disinfection Robot,’ offers disinfection services so that residents can visit the district office with peace of mind following the lifting of the indoor mask mandate; and the third, the ‘Serving Robot,’ is responsible for serving beverages to users at the Silver Cafe inside the building.


The introduction of robots within administrative agencies is the first case among local governments in Gyeongsangnam-do. It is significant in that robot technology, which is developing mainly in the private sector, is being expanded and applied to the public administration field. It is expected to improve the efficiency of public administration, and during the pilot operation period, issues and unexpected situations will be checked and improved to prepare for official adoption next year.


By collaborating with companies located in Changwon Special City for this pilot operation, the district office expects to promote the technological capabilities of the 4th robot industry and contribute to raising awareness of the robot industry and the continuous development of the business market.
