Park Hong-geun "March National Assembly Session to Open, Launching Special Investigations on Daejang-dong 5 Billion and Kim Geon-hee"

Yoon Seok-yeol Government, Incompetent and Unprepared on Livelihood Issues
"Parliament Must Convene to Address Pressing Livelihood and Economic Legislation"

[Asia Economy Reporters Oh Ju-yeon and Park Joon-yi] On the 21st, the day the arrest consent bill for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, was sent to the National Assembly, the Democratic Party once again emphasized the necessity of convening the March extraordinary session, criticizing President Yoon Seok-yeol's 'incompetence on livelihood issues.' While the People Power Party opposes the convening of the March extraordinary session, calling it a shield for the party leader, the Democratic Party explained that they intend to not only handle legislative matters during the session but also address the 'Daejang-dong 5 Billion Club' and the 'Kim Kun-hee Special Investigation.'

Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated at the morning floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly on the 21st, "Even if the ruling party is at fault, they should prepare proper measures, but the People Power Party is once again talking about boycotting the March extraordinary session," adding, "The Democratic Party will open the National Assembly according to the National Assembly Act procedures to handle the pressing livelihood and economic legislation, as well as resolve current issues such as the Daejang-dong 5 Billion Club and the special investigation into Mrs. Kim Kun-hee."

Park said, "Yesterday, the Bank of Korea released another forecast lowering this year's economic growth rate," and criticized, "Yet the president, pro-Yoon candidates, and Yoon core officials are only focusing on the ruling party's 'party privatization rally,' so the livelihood economy is truly worsening."

He also pointed out, "At the emergency economic ministers' meeting, there were no price stabilization measures mentioned by the president, only opposition to the revision of the labor union law," and criticized, "The ruling party's muddy party convention and the Yoon administration's incompetence and lack of measures on livelihood issues are pushing the already difficult livelihood and economy to the brink."

Park highlighted the difficulties faced by ordinary citizens, self-employed people, and small business owners due to rising prices, demanding extraordinary government measures and swift implementation.

Park emphasized, "The president only talks about 'extraordinary determination,' but every measure the government presents is like a deceptive promise, and the people’s anger deepens, asking what kind of government this is," adding, "We urge once again that the struggling people should no longer be subjected to false hope but be properly cared for with clear measures and definite follow-up actions on livelihood issues."
