[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Domestic virtual asset exchange Bithumb announced on the 21st that it has obtained the Information Security and Personal Information Protection Management System (ISMS-P) certification.
ISMS-P is a system certified by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) that verifies a company's measures and activities for information security and personal information protection meet certification standards. Companies holding this certification can respond promptly to hacking and personal information leakage incidents, and it certifies that corporate executives participate in information security decision-making, demonstrating a high level of awareness regarding the company's information security and personal information protection tasks.
Bithumb also holds four international standard certifications for information security and personal information management systems (ISO). These include the International Standard Information Security Management System (ISO27001), the International Standard Personal Information Protection Management System (ISO27701), the Cloud Service Information Security Management System (ISO27017), and the Cloud Service Personal Information Protection Management System (ISO27018).
Furthermore, Bithumb conducts internal risk assessments through the operation of the Information Security Committee, establishes information security plans, and continuously monitors the information security management system. In addition, through collaboration with related departments, it enacts company regulations to comply with relevant laws, designates an Information Security Day every month, and runs employee campaigns to prevent internal information leaks, thereby raising employees' awareness of information security.
A Bithumb official stated, "There have been observations that the risk of cyber financial crimes targeting not only virtual assets but also public institutions and companies has increased this year," adding, "We will continue to maintain a global-level information security management system and make greater efforts to protect investors, thereby establishing a trustworthy trading environment."
