Namhae-gun Appoints 271 Senior Leaders to Promote Community Vitality

"Elders' Experience and Knowledge Enriching the Community"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, appointed 271 '2023 Local Volunteer Leaders' to enhance the rights and expand social participation opportunities for elderly leaders who have strong social trust.


Namhae-gun is focusing on solidifying the 'WHO Age-friendly City' policy by implementing various customized welfare measures and creating opportunities for the knowledge and experience of the elderly to serve as a foundation for the prosperity of the local community.


Namhae-gun plans to significantly expand the number of local volunteer leaders from 42 last year to 271 this year, enabling active activities throughout the community.

Namhae-gun Appoints 271 Senior Leaders to Promote Community Vitality Gyeongnam Namhae-gun appointed 271 people as '2023 Regional Volunteer Leaders'.

The newly appointed local volunteer leaders include branch chairpersons and general affairs officers of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Namhae-gun branch, as well as village senior citizens' association presidents.


They will promote and guide elderly welfare policies in their respective residential areas, manage senior centers, engage in environmental protection, youth guidance, traffic accident prevention education, and identify low-income elderly, among various local volunteer activities. They will give back their accumulated experience and knowledge to society and fulfill their roles as respected leaders in the community.


Governor Jang Chung-nam said, “The elderly, who have played a pivotal role in regional development and are important assets to the community, actively participating in social activities is also important for a healthy old age. The administration will do its best to ensure that the diverse abilities and rich experience of the elderly become exemplary through volunteer activities and contribute to regional development.”
