[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Samsung Electronics is resuming sales of OLED TVs in Korea after 10 years. Purchase benefits will be offered through pre-sales of new products.
On the 20th, Samsung Electronics announced that from the next day until the 8th of next month, it will conduct pre-sales of major products including Neo QLED 8K TVs, Neo QLED TVs, and Samsung OLED. The official launch will be on the 9th of next month.
Online, starting the next day, Samsung.com will offer pre-sales of Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED, and OLED models. Offline stores will sell Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED, and OLED models nationwide at Samsung Digital Plaza and department stores starting from the 1st of next month.
Purchasing a Neo QLED 8K on Samsung.com comes with a 'The Freestyle' package (including a portable battery and carrier). Additional discounts are provided when purchasing a Samsung soundbar simultaneously. For Neo QLED and OLED purchases, depending on the promotional model, customers receive either The Freestyle or a JBL gaming headset. Additional discounts are offered when purchasing both Neo QLED or OLED models of 65 inches or larger and the Q930B soundbar. Depending on the promotional model, up to 12 months of TVING premium subscription vouchers are provided. The first 500 customers receive a 50,000 KRW YogiYo voucher, and up to 50,000 KRW vouchers are additionally given for writing product reviews.
At Digital Plaza and department stores, up to 1,000,000 Samsung Electronics membership points can be earned. Purchasing Neo QLED 8K models of 75 inches or larger in the promotion grants The Freestyle package. Additional discounts apply when purchasing a Samsung soundbar simultaneously. The Neo QLED QLED 8K is equipped with the 'Neo Quantum Processor 8K.' It includes an artificial intelligence (AI) upscaling feature that enhances the three-dimensional video depth. By incorporating an NPU (Neural Processing Unit), the Q Symphony function, which allows all TV speakers and soundbars to produce sound simultaneously, has been strengthened. It is designed to deliver optimal sound tailored to the space and content.
Connectivity has been enhanced. A one-chip module is installed to enable connection with various IoT (Internet of Things) devices. The one-chip module supports Matter devices, not just Samsung Electronics' smart home platform SmartThings. Live chat and video calls (Connectime) are supported. A remote medical service (Goodoc) application is also included, allowing users to experience non-face-to-face medical consultations at home.
The gaming experience has been elevated. The 'Game Bar' feature, which provides various game information, has been enhanced. Features such as 'Mini-map Zoom' to enlarge desired screens, 'Mini-map Share' to share the enlarged screen on another display, and 'Aim Point Display' optimized for first-person shooter games have been added.
Samsung OLED is equipped with the Neural AI Quantum Processor 4K. It maintains the advantages of OLED technology while delivering high-level brightness and color. The self-emitting pixels render colors from black to white almost perfectly. Excellent brightness and contrast ratio with HDR 10+ are applied to create deeper images. It features a 144Hz refresh rate and includes the streaming game platform service 'Samsung Gaming Hub.' It has also earned the 'FreeSync Premium Pro' certification. The thickness is approximately 11mm, made thin and uniform. The Infinite Slim design is applied to maximize space utilization. When installed as a wall-mounted product, it is designed to minimize gaps for a close fit.
The 2023 model TV prices range from 3 million to 15 million KRW depending on the product. The Neo QLED 8K (QNC900) 85-inch model is priced at 15.7 million KRW, and the 75-inch at 12.8 million KRW. The Neo QLED (QNC95) 85-inch is 9.49 million KRW, and the 75-inch is 8.09 million KRW. The OLED (SC95) 77-inch is 7.99 million KRW, the 65-inch is 5.29 million KRW, and the 55-inch is 3.09 million KRW.
Hwang Taehwan, Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics Korea, said, "The 2023 Neo QLED 8K will provide the best viewing experience with its ultra-large screen, 8K ultra-high definition, and sound technology," adding, "We will offer various benefits to customers through the pre-sale of Samsung OLED as well."
