Suwon City Provides 300,000 KRW Transportation Allowance per Person to 400 Job-Seeking Youth

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will provide 300,000 KRW in transportation expenses per person to 400 job-seeking youths this year.

On the 20th, Suwon City announced that it will recruit about 400 recipients for the '2023 Job-Seeking Youth Transportation Expense Support Project (Cheong Card Project)' until March 3rd.

The Cheong Card Project is a program by Suwon City to alleviate the financial burden of job-seeking youths by supporting transportation costs. Eligible youths will be given a 'Cheong Card' (Youth Transportation Card) loaded with 300,000 KRW. The Cheong Card is a public transportation-only card that can be used for buses and subways until December 31 of this year.

Eligible applicants are youths aged 19 to 34 (born between January 1, 1988, and December 31, 2004) residing in Suwon as of the announcement date (February 6), who are preparing for employment and belong to households with income at or below 120% of the median income. High school seniors planning to seek employment can also apply.

Applications can be submitted through the Gyeonggi Job Foundation's integrated application system, 'Jobaba Apply,' until March 3rd.

If there are many applicants, the city will prioritize final recipients based on the number of times they have participated in the Cheong Card Project (those with fewer participations given priority) and length of residence in Suwon (longer residents given priority).

The city will send text messages to the selected youths on March 20th. The distribution of the 'Cheong Card' will take place from March 21st to 27th at the Suwon Youth Support Center located in Ingye-dong.
