Insurance Researchers Gather in One Place... Insurance Research Institute Holds Seminar with Insurance Scholars

The 3rd Joint Seminar of the Korea Insurance Research Institute and Insurance Scholars Held

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The Korea Insurance Research Institute held a forum to strengthen communication with the insurance academia and to activate related research.

On the 20th, the Korea Insurance Research Institute announced that it held the "3rd Joint Forum of the Korea Insurance Research Institute and Insurance Scholars" on the 17th in Busan.

At this forum, the Korea Insurance Research Institute introduced its research plans for this year and gathered opinions from professors in the insurance academia from various regions.

First, since establishing the Industry-Academia Insurance Research Center in October 2019, the Korea Insurance Research Institute has held 35 industry-academia seminars and announced that it will further strengthen industry-academia cooperation through joint research and other activities this year as well. Additionally, it plans to enhance collaboration between insurance academia professors and the institute’s research fellows through advisory roles and joint research.

Discussions were held on academic papers from various fields. About 20 insurance scholars and research fellows from the Korea Insurance Research Institute attended, including around 10 insurance scholars from the Yeongnam region.

Professor Jung Gamin of Pohang University of Science and Technology, Professor Jung Joongyoung of Dong-Eui University, and Professor Hong Jimin of Soongsil University each presented papers on cyber risk, general non-life insurance, and health insurance, respectively. Senior figures in the insurance academia, such as Professor Lee Wondon of Daegu University, Professor Lee Bongju of Kyung Hee University, and Professor Lee Geunchang of Yeungnam University, offered advice on this year’s research plans of the Korea Insurance Research Institute.
