[One Day Walk] Walking with Nature in the City... Songpa-gu Seongnaecheon-gil

Songpa-gu, Seoul, is a city where the echoes of history and waves of culture shine, home to the country's tallest 123-story Lotte World Tower and Olympic Park commemorating the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Today, we introduce the Seongnaecheon walking trail, where you can fully enjoy the beauty of nature in the city and the changing seasons.

The Seongnaecheon walking trail, stretching about 6 km from the confluence of the Han River to Seongnae 4th Bridge, is a wonderful course where you can enjoy urban scenery harmonized with nature. The trail begins at Seongnaecheon Mulbit Square, reached by walking straight from Exit 1 of Gaerong Station on Line 5. Walking with the gentle sound of flowing water in the background, your heart naturally relaxes as you see children crossing the stepping stones laid over Seongnaecheon.

Walking about 800 meters along the Seongnaecheon pedestrian tunnel, you can enjoy a moment of 'water gazing' at the Water Sound Square fountain, and before you know it, you arrive at the Seongnaecheon Rice Farming Experience Learning Center. Here, where you can enjoy a unique rural landscape within the city, local residents annually showcase a distinctive urban-rural experience by planting rice in spring and harvesting rice and pounding rice cakes in traditional ways in autumn. Continuing along the trail, you will encounter the Mongchon History Museum, which exhibits relics and artifacts from the Han River basin dating back to the Baekje period. Along with various exhibitions, experiential history education programs for children are operated during school vacations.

Now, freely enjoy a stroll toward the path open to the Han River side. This path is called the ‘Seongnaecheon Cherry Blossom and Autumn Foliage Trail,’ where you can especially savor the changes of spring and autumn. As you walk along the ‘Seongnaecheon Cherry Blossom and Autumn Foliage Trail,’ selected as one of Songpa-gu’s Top 10 Attractive Places (Songpa Ten), take a break from the hectic city and immerse yourself in the leisurely charm of nature.
