[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former representative Lee Jun-seok apologized to the production team for "no-showing" a KBS radio program appearance, explaining that oversleeping due to a hectic schedule during the election period was the cause.
On the 17th, Lee posted on his social media, "During the intense election period, after finishing a late-night broadcast schedule yesterday and returning home late, I fell asleep without turning off silent mode and missed the radio broadcast time," adding, "I expressed my apologies to the production team of 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs' and will appear next Monday at 8:30 a.m. to repay by broadcasting twice the content I missed today."
On the same day, Cheon Ha-ram, a candidate causing a sensation in the People Power Party's party convention and known as part of the 'Lee Jun-seok faction,' appeared as Lee's substitute on KBS's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs,' showcasing his eloquence. He said, "Former representative Lee has been supporting me diligently and acting as a speaker, which I really appreciate, but sometimes I feel he crosses the line when he schedules radio shows at the same time as mine," adding, "Of course, we don't usually discuss or coordinate these things well, but it's a bit crossing the line."
He continued, "Also, we are competing for the headlines. Considering this, the fact that I got another chance is a very good thing," adding, "I believe former representative Lee wants this as well." Lee is currently appearing on various radio programs to support candidates Cheon Ha-ram, Kim Yong-tae, Heo Eun-ah, and Lee Ki-in. As a result, he even ended up competing with Cheon for headlines.
Some have pointed out that Cheon has not been able to break free from Lee's influence. Former lawmaker Kim Young-woo, who serves as the campaign committee chairman for Ahn Cheol-soo's camp, evaluated Cheon on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' program, saying, "It seems he cannot escape the shadow of former representative Lee."
In response, Cheon said, "I am an independent politician Cheon Ha-ram with my own charm, color, and political career," adding, "While I agree with the direction of former representatives Lee and Yoo Seung-min that the party must be reformed and changed and must not return to past factional politics, and I acknowledge that their shadow exists to some extent, I am running with the determination to surpass my predecessors."
