"ID.4 Meets Ant-Man" Volkswagen Korea Hosts Premiere Screening

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Volkswagen Korea announced on the 17th that it held a preview event on the 15th at Cine de Chef in Yongsan, Seoul, to commemorate its collaboration with the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The event included a movie screening aligned with the official release date, photo sessions with the Ant-Man and Wasp characters, and the unveiling of a commercial co-produced by Volkswagen and Marvel Studios. The commercial featured the protagonist Scott Lang (Paul Rudd)'s daughter Casey (Kathryn Newton) shrinking her body and sneaking away, accompanied by the ID.4 GTX. At the end of the commercial, the phrase “No size reduction function in the actual car” was inserted.

The ID.4 GTX is a high-performance version of the pure electric SUV ID.4, which was launched domestically last September, and is the first high-performance model in the ID. family. Like the ID.4, it is built on Volkswagen’s electric vehicle modular platform MEB.

Sasha Askijian, President of Volkswagen Korea, delivered a stage greeting sharing the brand’s achievements and future direction. “Volkswagen Korea ranked 4th in the overall imported car market last year, achieving excellent results with sales of 15,791 units, a 10% increase compared to the previous year,” he said. “This year, starting with the successful launch of the Touareg, we will strengthen our lineup and create another great story.”

He added, “Volkswagen’s first electric SUV, the ID.4, is our ‘hero model’ in the real world, having achieved the number one spot in imported electric vehicle sales just two weeks after its launch last September. As many domestic customers are eagerly awaiting the ID.4, we are doing our best to provide more ID.4 vehicles as quickly as possible, and we hope to see the ID.4 in Korea by mid-year.”
