Delivery Food Waste Illegal Dumping Rampant... "Please Stop," Caretaker's Anger

Imposition of a Fine up to 1 Million Won for Illegal Dumping

Netizens are outraged by the behavior of residents who, despite warnings from the building manager, disposed of leftover delivery food waste without separating it.

On the 15th, an online community, BobaeDream, posted an article titled "Office-tel Manager Angry Because of Two Women." The author, Mr. A, posted nine photos without any additional text.

According to the photos in the post, on December 13 last year, a large amount of leftover food waste was left unattended in front of the recycling area of an office-tel.

The manager left a note next to the trash saying, "To the person who placed the trash after 11 p.m., please organize and dispose of it properly," adding, "We will check the CCTV. If you have eaten, please dispose of it properly to maintain a clean environment."

The manager also left a note on other trash saying, "You should not leave it like this. Everything is recorded on CCTV. Please rinse food waste with water before disposing." However, despite these requests, the problematic residents again dumped sauces and food waste in delivery containers without proper disposal.

In response, the manager identified the gender, number of people, and time of dumping, and left another note. The manager warned again, "At 9:30 p.m. on December 17, two women?this is not how you should dispose of trash," adding, "Everything was recorded on CCTV, so please take care of it. Proper disposal is necessary for a clean environment."

Netizens who saw this commented, "This is truly selfish," "If you can't separate your trash, buy a large-capacity volume-based waste bag and use it," and "No one with basic common sense would do this," criticizing those who failed to properly separate their waste before disposal.

Meanwhile, if caught illegally dumping or abandoning waste, a fine of up to 1 million won can be imposed under the Waste Management Act. If food waste and recyclables are mixed inside a volume-based waste bag and caught, a fine of up to 300,000 won can be imposed.
