Providing Seodaemun Love Gift Certificates Worth 100,000 KRW for the Second Child and 200,000 KRW for the Third Child and Beyond
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 16th that it will expand the distribution of congratulatory gift certificates for families with multiple children starting this year.
Previously, families received book and culture gift certificates worth 100,000 KRW starting from the third child.
However, from this year, the second child will receive Seodaemun Love Gift Certificates worth 100,000 KRW, and the third child and beyond will receive certificates worth 200,000 KRW.
The recipients are children entering elementary school who must be registered residents of Seodaemun-gu as of the enrollment date. However, the 'first child' in a multi-child family is not eligible.
Applications must be submitted within one year from the child's elementary school enrollment date (for children enrolling this year, by February 29, 2024) to receive the gift certificates. The district has designated March as the concentrated application period.
Applications can be made online through 'Bojogeum24' or by visiting the local community service center.
A resident registration certificate is required, and if the multi-child family status cannot be confirmed through the certificate (e.g., if the child does not live at the same address as the first child), a family relationship certificate must be additionally submitted. For online applications, file attachment is required.
The district will verify the multi-child family status and the child's enrollment in elementary school, then issue the Seodaemun Love Gift Certificates via the 'SeoulPay+' app on the guardian's smartphone.
For more details, contact the local community service center or the Family Policy Division of Seodaemun-gu Office.
Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "We have expanded the eligibility and amount of the congratulatory gift certificates and changed the type of gift certificates to provide some support to multi-child families and small business owners," adding, "We ask all eligible families to apply without omission."

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seongmyeong) will operate the ‘Exciting Preview of School Life’ program on the 21st at 10 AM at Daechi Lifelong Learning Center for parents of prospective elementary school students in preparation for the new semester.
This program, co-hosted by Gangnam-gu and the Seoul Gangnam-Seocho Education Support Office (Director Ham Hyesung), was designed to provide necessary information about school life and alleviate anxiety for first-time school parents.

Additionally, it explains common inquiries from Gangnam parents, such as compulsory education deferral or exemption due to overseas study.

Jo Seongmyeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, "We have prepared a program that will serve as a reliable guide for prospective parents facing their child's first school life," adding, "We will continue to operate various customized programs to foster a happy educational culture for parents and children."
