[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that ‘Cafe Nanuda Branch 2,’ operated by Dongdaemun Senior Club (Director Kim Sung-il), a support organization for senior job projects, held its opening ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on the 15th.

The ‘Cafe Nanuda’ project is a market-type senior job project where 16 senior baristas directly operate the store, making and selling beverages. After the opening of ‘Cafe Nanuda Branch 1’ in July last year, ‘Cafe Nanuda Branch 2’ opened its doors just six months later.

‘Cafe Nanuda Branch 2’ is located on the first floor of the Samyuk Seoul Hospital Memorial Hall (82 Mangu-ro), serving not only local residents but also visitors from other regions who come to the memorial hall, providing a place of comfort and a brief moment of relaxation with a cup of coffee, making its significance even greater.

Additionally, sandwiches produced by the Nanuri Traditional Food Project, operated by Dongdaemun Senior Club, are sold together, expected to create a synergy effect in generating profits.

The opening ceremony was attended by about 50 people, including Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, members of the Dongdaemun-gu Council, representatives from the Samyuk Welfare Foundation, and officials from Samyuk Hospital, who celebrated and supported the opening of ‘Cafe Nanuda Branch 2.’

After the formal event, Mayor Lee encouraged the 16 senior baristas working at ‘Cafe Nanuda Branch 2.’

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I am very pleased that the ‘Cafe Nanuda’ project, which opened its first branch last year with good results, was able to open the second branch. I hope Cafe Nanuda Branch 2 becomes a space that supports seniors’ new challenges and a joyful workplace. We will continue to actively support and cooperate with local job agencies to create more good jobs like this.”

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Visits Four ‘Our Neighborhood Care Centers’ (Gonghang-dong, Banghwa 2, 3-dong, Yeomchang-dong)

Mayor Kim: “We will gradually expand ‘Our Neighborhood Care Centers’ to alleviate childcare burdens for working couples.”

On the afternoon of the 15th, Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, visited four local child care facilities called ‘Our Neighborhood Care Centers’ (Gonghang-dong, Banghwa 2, 3-dong, Yeomchang-dong) consecutively, spending enjoyable time playing with the children.

Mayor Kim toured the facilities with the children, checking for any inconveniences and participating in the children’s educational programs.

He also transformed into a ‘one-day teacher,’ addressing the children’s curiosities and questions. When children asked questions, Mayor Kim explained in an easy-to-understand way tailored to their level. Despite the barrage of questions, he answered each one carefully, spending quality time with the children.

He also paid close attention to the voices from the childcare field, listening to the difficulties faced by childcare workers and offering encouragement.

Mayor Kim said, “As a parent raising two children, I understand the feelings of both children and parents better than anyone else. We will gradually expand Our Neighborhood Care Centers to reduce the childcare burden on working couples and ensure children can stay in a safe and comfortable environment.”

He added, “Seeing the children’s bright smiles made me feel happy and joyful as well. I will do my utmost to create a ‘Happy Gangseo’ where the laughter of our children never ceases.”
