Emergency Transport of a 60-Year-Old with an Ankle Injury During a Walk on Jeju Biyangdo Island

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] An emergency patient in their 60s injured their ankle and wrist after slipping on a moss-covered rock while walking along the coast of Biyangdo, Hallim-eup, Jeju City, and was urgently transported by the Jeju Coast Guard.


According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 15th, at around 10:33 a.m. that day, a report was received from the Biyangdo Health Center in Hallim-eup, Jeju City, stating that Mr. A was suspected of fractures in the left ankle and right wrist and needed to be transported to a city hospital.

Responding to the report, the Jeju Coast Guard arrived at Biyangdo at around 10:43 a.m., quickly boarded emergency patient Mr. A and guardian Mr. B, a total of two people, and entered Hallim Port to hand them over to the waiting 119 ambulance team.


A Jeju Coast Guard official said, “There are many moss-covered rocks around the coast, so caution is needed when taking walks,” and added, “This year, the Jeju Coast Guard has safely transported a total of five emergency patients, including two from Biyangdo, using patrol vessels and other means.”
