Recently, as the status of Busan as an international film city has grown, the video content industry has shown remarkable growth. The city recognizes that talent development is essential to elevate Busan’s film and video industry to the next level and to generate substantial economic ripple effects. Therefore, through the city’s key policy of Industry-Academia-Government cooperation, this event was organized to cultivate outstanding talent in the special effects video field.

Today’s agreement focuses on jointly striving to nurture professional talent by utilizing the high-quality infrastructure and practical workforce possessed by KBS Korea Broadcasting to build an industrial ecosystem for special effects and virtual modeling (digital twin), developing related industrial policies, and collaborating with local universities.

Digital twin refers to an object made exactly like the real thing in virtual space, or the technology that creates such objects.

Additionally, KBS Busan Broadcasting Headquarters’ ‘Digital Twin·XR Talent Development Promotion Team’ will be designated as the 52nd branch of the Industry-Academia-Government cooperation to train practical talent in special effects production in the film and video field, and will establish a region-customized virtual modeling (digital twin) system to seek new growth engines for the local industry.

Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “Through today’s agreement and branch inauguration, I hope that Korea’s top experts will cultivate practical, specialized talent and contribute to the growth of the special effects video field as a regionally specialized industry.”

He added, “This will also be a great opportunity for outstanding local talent in related fields, and it will serve as a chance for talents who left for the metropolitan area in search of jobs to return to Busan. I expect the Industry-Academia-Government cooperation wave spreading from Busan to become a strong driving force for balanced national development in Korea.”
