Korea Toyota Donates 80 Million KRW to National Cancer Center

Accumulated Donations of Approximately 780 Million KRW Since 2001

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] On the 15th, Toyota Motor Korea announced that it had donated 80 million KRW to the National Cancer Center the day before to support the treatment of pediatric, adolescent, and vulnerable cancer patients.


This donation will be used to support medical expenses for vulnerable cancer patients, operate psychological development programs for pediatric and adolescent cancer patients, and improve the environment of the pediatric and adolescent cancer ward 'Dodam Shelter.'


In particular, through support for cultural and artistic experiences, the program aims to cultivate the social skills of the patients and establish a 'Wish Fulfillment Program' to help pediatric and adolescent cancer patients who face psychological difficulties during their treatment to receive smooth care.

Korea Toyota Donates 80 Million KRW to National Cancer Center

In 2021, Toyota Motor Korea created a space called the 'Hospital School' for pediatric and adolescent cancer patients at the National Cancer Center Pediatric and Adolescent Cancer Center. The Hospital School supports young patients in continuing their studies and forming peer relationships by completing the regular curriculum under the guidance of dedicated teachers dispatched from Pungsan Elementary School in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Inside the school, the 'Dodam Shelter' was established as a resting area where patients can relax and read books comfortably.


Toyota Motor Korea has been supporting research funding for cancer research promotion and treatment for pediatric cancer patients at the National Cancer Center for 23 years since 2001. The cumulative donation amount is approximately 780 million KRW.


Manabu Konyama, CEO of Toyota Motor Korea, said, “We are striving to help improve the treatment environment at the National Cancer Center so that patients can focus on their treatment and recover their health,” adding, “Toyota Motor Korea will continue to carry out social contribution activities alongside Korean society as a corporate citizen growing together with the community, supporting neighbors in need.”
