According to Seo-gu on the 14th, the Chipyeong-dong Residents’ Autonomy Committee (Chairman Park Tae-bong) held the future vision proclamation ceremony for Gamtan Village on the 13th on the 2nd floor of the Chipyeong-dong Administrative Welfare Center, reaffirming their determination to realize Gamtan Village.
The proclamation ceremony, attended by Seo-gu Mayor Kim I-gang, the Chipyeong-dong Residents’ Autonomy Committee, and the Sangmu District Apartment Union, was held in the order of a carbon-neutral lifestyle practice image exhibition, a classical talent donation performance by local artists, and a presentation of the ‘Gamtan Village Future Vision’ by Moon Ji-hyun, head of Chipyeong-dong.
The BI of Chipyeong-dong, ‘Green Wave, Chipyeong Gamtan Village,’ signifies the creation of Gwangju’s representative ‘carbon-neutral village’ that practically responds to the climate crisis, as Chipyeong-dong has accumulated achievements and success stories in the field of resource circulation.
Starting with the proclamation ceremony, the Chipyeong-dong Residents’ Autonomy Committee plans to continuously promote Gamtan policies to realize the village, such as revitalizing the operation of resource circulation stores in Chipyeong Village, forming a carbon-neutral leading village promotion team, providing carbon reduction education for children and adolescents, and establishing a carbon-neutral experience and exhibition center.
Moon, the head of the district, and residents said, “Based on our pioneering know-how in resource circulation activities, we will realize the future vision of a carbon-neutral village,” and pledged to take the lead in “creating a village where the earth and people are amazed, and culture amazes.”
Mayor Kim said, “This is a meaningful day to externally proclaim the village’s vision to pass on a sustainable ecological city to future generations,” and added, “The local community and local government, as the main agents of the practical implementation of carbon neutrality, must take the lead in realizing carbon neutrality by 2045.”
